I flew off for Bulgaria during my holidays for the first time in 2001. This turned out to be a 'big mistake'. From then on I don’t want to go anywhere else. Thanks God I have already seen so many other countries.
My friend Horst persuaded me to go to Bulgaria. He was there about 20 times before, in the time of GDR, for the last time in 1991.He was speaking enthusiastically and was impatient to see what had changed.
And me, myself, I knew almost nothing about this country. Of course the capital Sofia was familiar to me; I have heart about the Black Sea as well. Besides the names Hristo Stoichkov and Iordan Lechkov invoked to me unpleasant memories. But my knowledge finished to here.
Unfortunately I didn’t take my camera during the first two stays in Bulgaria. That’s why I cannot present you any photos and because of this I’ll describe briefly my impressions from that time. At the expense of that I took a lot of pictures in the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. You can see those pictures in the photo gallery and in my detailed travel notes since the year 2004 on.
